Cell Phone Gaming
« on: November 08, 2005, 02:59:00 pm »
Its late 2005 and I have finally got a cell phone.  Been avoiding it as long as possible but could not pass it up considering the package my wife was able to get (she has had a phone since they looked and felt like bricks).  My question deals with the gaming aspect.  I have a samsung flip phone model x475 and our service is T-Mobile.  The phone has a cople of okay Java games on it.  T-Mobile has a place called T-Zones where you can download games from them.  I was wondering are their other places I could get games for this phone besides T-Mobile (looking for some classic games they do not have).  Maybe a website that has games and an 800 number to call for the game you want.  I'm sure that I could do a google search for this but was wondering what the good folk on this site knew first.  Thanks in advance.

There's actually a version of MAME for Cell phones, but I don't think any of them work on yours:

Otherwise, I don't know of a way to download games other than the ones provided by the cell phone provider.

My motorola phone has a USB cable that allows me to transfer games over.  As far as games, you can download them from your provider, or get them from the usual places.
first off your and idiot

I've downloaded a few of the "classic" games for my Verizon LG VX6000 from their "Get It Now!" service. Average price has been about $5.

My One-Line Reviews:

Asteroids: Horrible, the controls are hideous.
Frogger: Playable, considering the screen is split in half (road/water) and the sounds and music are way off.
Joust: Not Bad
Q*Bert: Pretty decent, actually, probably my favorite of the bunch
Qix: Seems relatively faithful

I tried Galaga on my Samsung a660. HORRID! The sound effects are really cool, and the phone rumbles when I die, but the frame rate is the pits. (Keep in mind though, this phone is a slow phone in general)
NO MORE!!

Pacman on my Moto v551 plays well speedwise, but its just such a task to move pac around with the number pad.

1942 is ok, not great, but not bad.

Pang is a lot of fun on my phone, as well as Bubble Bobble.  Bejeweled is the real star of my phone tho, that gets the most play time.

XIII is pretty cool too if your phone supports it.

The rest of my games are normal fare... blackjack, minigolf, etc
