Vatican Rejects Intelligent Design

"The fundamentalists want to give a scientific meaning to words that had no scientific aim," he said at a Vatican press conference. He said the real message in Genesis was that "the universe didn't make itself and had a creator".

This idea was part of theology, Cardinal Poupard emphasised, while the precise details of how creation and the development of the species came about belonged to a different realm - science. Cardinal Poupard said that it was important for Catholic believers to know how science saw things so as to "understand things better."

Amen!

Yeah, but this is the same group of people that waited 400 years before apologizing for  their dissing Galileo. At least they responded a bit quicker this time.

They lose those points for thinking anyone gives a crap what they say about anything anymore.

It is nice, though, to see that some of them took a break from raping little boys long enough to write up a press release.

but wouldn't that mean you need to ask 12 or more time for permission to buy new power tools?

Back on topic. At least someone at the Vatican finally took a realistic stance on something.

I took a dozen wives last week.

I wasn't married to any of them, though.

There have always been rumors that the lower levels of the Vatican have trillions of dollars in gold and various treasures down there.  I wonder how much is really stored there.

Think about it... 2000 years of unchecked pillaging, theft, and con... millions of people around the world send them money for no reason... there could be more money there than in the entire US ecomony.

Bush belongs to one of those Christian groups that was formed by protesting the Catholic church.  Besides a Polish Pope disagreed with America for it's wars and baby killing policies.  Since we crushed his team in WW2, and we are still killing unborn babies by the thousands, a German Pope would be even less of an ally.

You know they actually distrubited a book at my son's school about intellegent design?

It "the facts about intellegent design"

It was a textbook that pointed out all the flaws in evolution theory.

I had to sign a release form for him to get the "free book".

It was funny.

The best argument against intelligent design is that it has led to us.

How ---smurfing--- intelligent could it have been?
