Phelps runs an extreme right-wing church comprised almost entirely of family members. He pickets at the funerals of gay people, and demonstrates out in front anything he perceives as 'gay-friendly' (ie: school plays with gay characters, etc.)

He's a nut job who has no scruples about dragging children around with him to hold up these extremely homophobic, hate-filled, day-glow signs of his. He's also, most likely, a closeted homosexual, as pointed out by the two gentlemen standing next to him.

Phelps is best remembered in my hometown of Pittsburgh for picketing the funeral of Fred "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" Rogers, stating that the deceased was going to hell for not condeming homosexuality.

We have some people like that that picket in the town square near where I live.

My wife walked across the street near them, in her short sleeve shirt and shorts (NO, not daisy dukes

), and the guy yelled into his bullhorn that woman who don't cover their bodies should be ready for eternal damnation or some crap.

They also like to hold up pictures of aborted fetuses. Very nice when you walk or drive by with your children.
