So, I go to a game store today that I rarely go to... and picked up a NIB N64 modem/keyboard.

I thought I knew the N64 pretty well but someone this one totally slipped by me.

It is nothing special.

It was some sort of action replay sort of thing, where you would connect to a closed network run by them, and have access to special cheats and other information.

Completely worthless it was.

It says you could send email and had 5 email accounts, so clearly it was ISP in nature too.

Well...

It was still a closed network. You couldn't go browsing around wherever you chose. It was just their site.

Allowing you to have email isn't all that great of a benefit for such a gimped device.

Nothing personal against CT or the device. :P

It was just a turd of a product.

I was just making it clear that it had NO online gaming ability, or even any real web browsing ability for that matter.

I wasn't looking for online ability... I wonder if it could be haxored for marginal ISP use... that would be funky.

It hasn't been hacked to this day, but I dunno if it was just due to lack of interest or to actual lack of ability.

For a while I was working on completing the domestic N64 library.  I got most of them at yard sales where if you want the 8 games, you have to buy the console too.

At some point I'll probably RGB mod them and sell them off.
