Mamewah trackball question
« on: November 02, 2005, 11:20:55 pm »
I am using Mamewah (newest) and mame.  I have windows xp pro , athalon 1.2, 256m ram, and a 80 g HD.  I have a happs USB trackball that i want mame to use for games like centipede and missle comand, i have the mouse "on" in my INI and i still cannot use the trackball for these games,  the trackball works great as a mouse in windows so i know it works fine.  I also have a USB spinner that i want to use on Tempest iwith the same problems.  Again the spinner works in windows but i cannot get it to work in tempest as a controller, i only get the joystick to work.  thanks in advance,
Ken

Make sure you enable the mouse in mame.ini.  The Mamewah.ini settings aren't going to turn on the trackball inside of mame itself.

Should be in your mame directory.

If you are using mame32, there probably isn't a mame.ini, I don't have one.

Launch mame32 by itself and enable the mouse in the options menu, controllers, enable mouse input.

Then exit mame32 and launch through mamewah and see if it works

If you don't have a mame.ini, create one using 'mame -cc' from a commandline.  Then ensure the following are set (in mame.ini):

dial_device             mouse
trackball_device        mouse

'mouse 1' will also work, but the above method is generally preferred.
