SA Detroit Auction Results
« on: November 05, 2005, 09:08:36 pm »
A few notes on the auction.
There was a centipede cabaret converted to Capcom Bowling. Worst idea.
Ever. Finger breaking special. I couldn't fit my hand over the
trackball without touching the glass.
Prices were absurd, to say the least.
Super Hang On for 350? C'mon people!

PB denotes a pinball. This will piss off people looking for just video
or pinball results. Deal.

There was a real ---uvula--- at the end, who actually had Superauctions
break the rules for him. He opened bidding 2 minutes after sold was
said. Twice.

Yuppie Home buyer central.

It was superior to the usual Junk that shows up at a super auctions,
and therefore the price trippled. Yeah.

Without further ado.

Kyle you summed it up perfectly. You could tell how frustrated I was getting with the auction as the day went on and the crowd was hardly thinning out. 400 for a Marvel Superheroes with only 2 buttons per player is insane (why the hell would you run a cab where each player is missing 4 of their buttons). I never thought I'd see a bidding war over a traffic stoplight. I couldn't believe that capcom bowling in the Atari cabaret went for nearly 300. Equally as bad, the Neo Geo countertop (with one button and a 2 way stick for only playing Puzzle Bobble) going for 300. Ughhh. If this is any indication of what Det auctions will be like, give me Kzoo back.

from the looks o fthe prices listed they don't look that bad.  The collectibles are more $$$ and a lot of the odd odl skool games like ladybug and ring king are cheaper... its no 100 pacman cocktail but they are cool too.

Since when did caberets become common and cheap? Few years ago they were very much in demand and hard to find. So $300 sounds fairly reasonable.  You guys just sound grumpy that you didn't get bargains you wanted.

PS: Re the two-button game: Was it a fairly generic cab? Often times the sellers will grab whatever board and marquee they have, stick it in their empty JAMMA cabs and then bring em to the auction.

NO MORE!!
