Missing Mame Artwork for FE
« on: October 25, 2005, 08:06:44 am »
I've searched the forum and I almost have the answer I'm looking for. The front end can display Mame marquees and snapshots, but my mame\artwork folder is empty.

It looks like the place to download artwork is posted in this topic . But it looks like they are dat files. What's the next step? How do I create the necessary subfolders and populate them?

I can't see classicgaming.com and mametitles.com  from work. We have "game" web sites blocked. I'm guessing the answer I need is there?

That folder is for MAME artwork for use in-game.  You can get the official artwork here: http://www.mame.net/downart.html

Not sure what you are asking,

MinWah had the link to in-game artwork (mainly bezels around the game itself).

most other titles, snapshots, marquees, cabs, and control panel images are availbale from Emu-France from the other thread you mentioned.  http://www.emu-france.com/?page=fichiers&idSysteme=14

Sorry for the confusion. Simple question: in Mamewah or AtomicFE, it shows the game list and some sort of corresponding artwork.

Both frontends ask for the folder to look for artwork, \mame\artwork by default.

How can I display the pictures it's looking for?
- download files? if so, where?
- unzip / copy / create subfolders, etc?

Okay, actually - you are confused -

When MAMEwah or atomic ask for an artwork folder - it is asking for the folder containing the bezel images displayed during the game.

Just to further confuse the issue, you can also create a MameWah layout that displays a screen snapshot of the game, the orignal game cabinet, the original marquee, and I believe an image of the game's original control panel.  You have to have each of these saved to the correct folder.  All should be unzipped into these folders:

The game screen snapshots should be in the SNAP folder
The cabinet snapshots should be saved to the CABINETS folder
The control panels should be saved in the CPANEL folder
The marquee snapshots should be saved in the MARQUEES folder.
