ATI Rage pro & arcade monitor problems
« on: October 25, 2005, 06:16:18 am »
i'm sorting out a PC for a mate to go in a JAMMA cab but it has onboard RAGE Pro Turbo graphics and no AGP slot.
i've got it all installed and running fine but both windows and MAMEWAH are doubled up on the screen with 2 images side by side. and in mame i'm getting either a real bendy picture or just fuzzy colours

is there anything i can do?

btw i'm running mame0.37b on win98SE cos it's "very" low spec

thaks

You could use ArcadeOS and DOS Mame, or if you really need to use Windows you can use PowerStrip to configure compatible resolutions for your monitor.
Read over WPCMAME's excellent PowerStrip write-up in the FAQ here:

ok i gave up with powerstrip. as soon as i selected the arcade rez the screen went all wappy and i couldnt sync the picture in :(

so i stuck the old harddrive back in. that has ArcadeOS with AdvanceMame v0.62 on it.
the opening image is displayed as 2 images side by side. but the arcadeos menu is OK.
problem is almost all of the games play as 2 images side by side also. only a couple show up ok. (the only one i remember is 005)

anything i can do?? or is it a lost cause??

i've launched advcfg and set my monitor up.
now the games are one image but with a big black vertical line down the middle.
and a load of them just say something about being an unsupported resolution!?  >:(

any ideas?

Have a read over Purple Mame's Software page. He has a pretty in-depth (if a little out of date) walkthrough on how to set up AdvMame resolutions for your monitor. It's not a quick process though, it took me about two weeks to get all my resolutions looking right.
