Boomcade... teaser.
« on: October 24, 2005, 12:11:06 am »
It's not done yet (are they ever?  ::) ), but here is a teaser of what is to come in honor of Wilma giving me the day off tomorrow.

This cabinet was built for the sole purpose of being able to FEEL the games that are played on it. I just hope this is enough.   ;)

I tested the sound system already and stuff damn near started falling off of the walls. I guess a 1000 watt (rms) stereo system will do that.  ;D

No cheap stereo crap was used in the making of this cab. I even made my own rca cables for the best quality. I'll leave the details as a surprise, but I will say that there are five amps and five 500watt power supplies to power them. Here are some teaser pics...

That's awesome  :o.

Are they automotive amps?  What x-over setup did you use.  The jukebox guys are going to have a lot of questions for you.

I only used good quality automotive amps (MTX/US Acoustics) and every one of them has a built in crossover. I'll see how it goes, but at this point I'm pretty sure I won't need a dedicated crossover. I do have the subwoofers and the rest of the stereo running from two different outputs on the soundcard (Audigy2 zs) and going to two seperate volume controls. This way it gives me some control not only over the volume, but also the amount of bass.

(Excuse the hole, it is where my power button is going.)

Why the photoshop filter on the first image.  It would be nice to see the overall.

It isn't done and I don't want to show it completely just yet.  ;)

This thread is just a teaser.
