Oh NOOOO..!
« on: January 19, 2003, 04:43:34 pm »
Something weird happened today :(
I was playing outrun on my arcade-mame-machine, and suddenly my monitor went all black (looking like it wasn't getting any voltage any more)... it didn't make any sound, not even a "pop" like if a fuse did blow, it just went black on a second!!!

Now we checked if there was going voltage up to the monitor, and checked all fuses in the transfomator and the one on the back of the monitor, and it seems like it's getting voltage ok, and the fuses should be intact....

The monitor is a Hantarex Polo 25", and from '96, so I doubt that the tube has gone bye bye... anyhow, I'm puzzled by this, because the display was fine from the pc to the monitor, but then suddenly went black :(

Does anyone have any idea what is happening to the monitor, and how it can be corrected?!

I'm so sad at the minute... my baby seems dead :(

If you think the monitor is OK and fuses are intact then check for a loss in signal from your PC.  Maybe something came loose or shorted in your cable.  If that is OK then make sure there is a glow in the neck of the monitor. Careful not to touch anything around the HV.

If all that checks out then you may need a troubleshooting chart for your monitor.

We testet all fuses, and the power-supply for the screen, and everything works fine :O
So I called the guy I bought it from, who told me it probably was some small component on the screens motherboard that was toasted...

Now he is going to send me some schematicts on the screen, and we'll have to go it all through to see if there is anu burned components we can fix ourselves... if we don't manage to fix it he was willing to give me an other screen, which is fine, just a long ride to get to him, plus the demounting of the screen :(

Anyways, I wrote Hantarex to ask them some questions about the Polo 25", but they didn't answer at all... bollox!!!

Man I'm so depressed :( It's still not up and running..! My friend even had a look at it today, and didn't have any clue at all what to do with it :(

Does anybody know where I can get a repair-manual or something that shows me the way how to repair it?!?!

Please, I'm in desperate need of help..!

Hantarex haven't answered my email yet, and I begin to loose faith in them!!!

Can't describe the pain I'm going through with my machine not playing mame  :'(

Ahh, drove to the guy today, and got a new motherboard for the monitor, and everything is running smooth again :) He even gave me the board for free :) Nice service :)

So no worries no more, game not over :D
