My friend told me about this but I didn't believe him. Damn... Much better than buying a 2gb memory stick that's probably gonna be more than that. Also, I bet you'd be able to get it for cheaper on ebay. Thanx.

I really like the idea, but the thing looks HUGE!  I know it has to be to accomodate everything, but I think you lose a lot of portability with this thing.  I'd almost prefer carrying around a couple MemSticks.  But I don't even have a PSP yet :(

There are some pros and cons about this thing:

Pros:

- Fit all your homebrew/ games on this mother.
- Big mem space.
- Decent Price for space.

Cons:

- Kind of big.
- Rather carry couple of mem sticks around.

Thanx.

-See Ya!!!

I just keep going back to the idea that there is no need to have more than 2gigs in the PSP at one time.  What I mean by that is you can fit ANY UMD game on a 2gig mem stick, or any UMD movie, or a lot of smaller games/homebrew stuff if you wanted.

Also, with the way they are pumping out MemStick Duos, and the fact that a 1gig stick can be had for $65 now, it won't be long before a 2gig stick will be under $100.  It'll still be a while granted, but its not very far off.  At that point, 2x 2gig sticks will be about the price of this and do the exact same thing in a MUCH smaller package.

I dunno.  I REALLY like the idea, but I'm not sure I'd buy it if I had a PSP.  I think I'd rather hold out on 2x 2gig sticks and you'd never even know I had that storage on me.  That thing just seems a bit to big for my tastes.  It might even help the ergonomics of the PSP, who knows... but I'm still unsure of the whole product.

Where can I get a 1 gig for $65?  I keep getting messed up with Mem stick and Mem stick Duo.  I need a DUO correct?

Lousy PSP newbie.

I've seen some for $70 + $7 on eBay.

Fry's electronics had some on sale a week or two back at $80

My roommate just bought one for something like $68 shipped. I'll ask him where.  They are around the $75 mark at most online places I've seen.

yup, he got it from J&R, i was just gonna post it.  Thanks MameMaster.

I didn't know it was a rebate, so I guess they aren't at $65 out the door quite yet, but the prices sure have dropped drastically lately.

...you know the funny thing is about J & R is that they kinda' look like the old "Crazy Eddie" in Brooklyn...in other words, a total rip off joint....but they actually are awesome to work with (as some of you have noted).

Ahh....Crazy Eddie....we got our Coleco there I think. You could totally bargain with them in those old days.....but you really had to know your prices. No internet in those days to double check your prices!

.....I am personally really tempted by that 4gb monster though. I wish they had it in the US. I would hate to import that thing.......Lik Sang ain't cheap......but I have bought from them before.

But then what would I do w/my two 1 gb sticks?........

If anyone buys this thing can you let us know what you  think???  ???

FYI-- Lik Sang updated their site with an indepth review and price drop to $199.--

http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3707

it seems like the hdd takes longer to load/save games to it than the 1 gb stick (I had assumed it would be slower).

But as a side note, I think their numbers are off on the time you get out of a fresh battery....I just went on a business trip and watched Hitchhikers Guide, Kumar and Harold (very funny by the way) AND played Burnout and Virtua Tennis.....and still had about 25 min of power left over....so I think their rated 4.3 hours is a bit under the reality for a 1 gb stick.

Check the various PSP forums.  The reviews are pretty mixed.  In general I'd say the majority of the people who bought them would not buy them again if they had a second chance.

Some people didn't like the extra thickness and weight (although some like the thickness saying it's easier to hold onto).  Apparently everything runs slower because the MS to compact flash interface drops the transfer rate significantly.  Some people are reporting that the extra battery doesn't give them much extra time because of the extra draw from the hard drive.  And since you can get 2G sticks for under $150 nowadays this doesn't seem like such a great deal.

....I had a feeling the drive would slow things down.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!  ;D

(me thinks I'll get a 2gig stick instead!)

....by the way for those interested the Best Buy in Manhattan is selling these (the same ones a Lik Sang) for $229.00.

I didn't see them on the Best Buy web site though.....

I was told they when up for sale on Tuesday....and they already had an "open box special (returned item)" for $199.99.......
