mini arcades at Sears

Anyone seen these little games?  Found them in Sears Canada wish book for $14.99 each.  Probably about $9.99 in the US.

I saw them at a small, local chain the other day.  Very cheesy looking and cheaply made.

Thats too bad.  Just noticed that the Pac man screen orientation is wrong as well and Centipede has a joy not a trackball.  I guess that is all you can expect for the price.

The joystick was so cheap it looked like it would break on first use if you weren't really gentle with it.  It was lower quality than your average Happy Meal toy.

What the heck are the little things where the coin slots should be?  They do look very cheap.  Do they play like a Game-in-watch type LCD game?

Would be fun to use to make a Cheap-o PalmMAME device.  I could just slide it right in...hmm.

Hell, it's pacman right? If you ask me, better then buying the original board for 70 bucks and having to go through the process of hooking up lots of stuff. Might as well go with one of these. Just replace the joystick and buttons.

You do realise that these are tiny little handhelds with lcd displays (calculator display type, not nice TV type).

If you want to go the cheap route, you would be better off with a Jakks Pacific. Those already have a halfway decent joystick and buttons, decent emulation and hook up to a TV with RCA composite right out of the box.

Agreed, except for the annoying siren. I had one when I was a ...a... "tween"? The siren sound drove my parents so nutty I ended up installing a Mute switch.

Sorry for the double post, but ya, I just made a little arcade with the 5 namco games from jakks pacific, but ordered buttons and joystick off happ. So it had an actual arcade feel for only 20 (around) bucks.

I did see those mini arcades at Wall-mart today. they are going for $10 each. I havn't realy decided if I'm going to pick em up or not 

I'll probibly just wait till after Christmas who know someone may pick em up for me 

if not hopefully they'll be on sale by then.....
