Author Topic: House sitting again. Place your bets (Read 5427 times)

It's that time of the year again where a mate of mine goes on holidays and leaves his house and numerous animals in my care.

As few may remember, everytime I babysit the house, at least one animal manages to kick the bucket. Last time it was one of the birds.

The ~~victims~~ animals this time around are:
4 Rats
1 Bunny
1 Guinea pig
2 Birds (one is a replacement for the previous casualty)
2 cats

Which one will grow wings (not counting the birds which will go to hell anyway

) and go to that big zoo in the sky? Only time will tell.

Or will I ~~buckle~~ (grammar? Bah!) defeat the odds and have everything survive this time (so far that's never happened but it may be a lucky year).

My money is on the guinea pig first, and one of the rats second.

What do we win if we're correct, and how exactly did you "buckle" the odds? I didn't even know the odds came in belt form!

I vote you have to mail the dead animal to the person who guesses wrong, with a printed list of all who guessed wrong. They have to cross their name off the top of the list, and mail it to the next person. A chain letter scam of the worst kind.

too bad they don't own a snake that has a tendency of getting loose... then things could get really interesting.........

remember if I'm wrong put me on the top of the list. I'd hate to be the last person to receive the carcase

The rats may chew me to death overnight.

Day and everything is still alive.

I may however commit cat-murder. I got to work this afternnon and everyone kept asking me why my normally black coat now apears to have a white tint to it. I hate molting season.

Here's my thinking

Rats will survive anytihng
Rabbits are hearty and live long
Guinea Pigs seem to be sort of Fragile - possibility
You already killed a bird, what are the odds you will do it again?
Cats are long-lived as well.

Nah, they only replaced the pig (something actually died while I wasn't there) about 3 months ago so not much chance there.

And is it normal for a neighbour's rooster to be doing it's wake up call at 3am?

My father-in-law has a rooster that crows every ten to fifteen minutes all day and all night.

My 3 nephews each had a pig, they died one after the other after a few months. Nasty little beasts, sh!tting all over the place (even in their food dish!!!)

Now, I'm afraid to lose, being in Canada, I know I'd end up with the carcase LAST. Wonder how long something like that would actually circulate in the mail system before someone got wind (pun intended) of it? Any known cases out there in Net land?

If it's sent by Australia Post, the carcass would probably come back to life out of frustration.

There's a scientific reason for that. When I'm trying to shove the bunny into the bird cage, it'll put up a convincing fight and scratch the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of me. Also I can't seem to find any other paink-killers in the house.
