Pc specs by year

Does anyone know of a list or database that shows what year a game came out and what type of pc can play it?  If there is none then i might start work on one.
Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

Wow... that's a tall order!

What you're talking about is basically a database of the box "side info" for every PC game ever made?  The Minimum and Recommended specs to play the game?

Most likely the database you're looking for is Google.  :)  My guess is that information is available somewhere online for just about every game.

Gamespot appears to have a lot of this information.  Here are the Descent specs as an example.

by game... I'm assuming he means mame games.

There is not a list... and it would be difficult to compile and accurate and useful one, due to the large amount of differences in system, ram, and software used to play them.

Well i tried playing 1945k iii and it ran on my p266 with 64mb
but the sound was messed up and it lagged.  So i want to find what games can run on it.

i tried google searching but i dont find what i need.  So a less general question is all games before 1980 will run on it correct?
