This "autosave" option is interesting - for supported games it takes you instantly back to where you were, meaning there is no rom bios screens to go through.

Not very "purist" but handy for games that have long bios screens....

Depends how you define it.  What if you think of it as not turning the machine off.

I think it can be purist.  Neogeo systems and the naomi system along with some other random systems actually allowed you to bring in your own memeory card and save your progress.

Also it's nice to be abel to easily take a break with those 10 level side scrollers.

I've played around with it and yes its pretty nice - seems to work well.

It is a bit odd if you quit in the middle of a game though - come back a day later and bam you are back at level 5 with 2 ghosts bearing down on you.....

I suppose a habit of quitting during the attract would solve this.

Wired up save state support for all the games in pacman.c, jrpacman.c, and
pengo.c. Marked all games as GAME_SUPPORTS_SAVE. [Aaron Giles]
Heh, I did say "what, no pacman" for the save state stuff in the u4 thread.

Added validity check to ensure driver names are 8 characters or less.
[Aaron Giles]
The purpose of this would be????? to help prevent custom compiles?

To not break the DOS build

My biggest question is why was "skip_validity checks" removed?  I mean great, it checks faster now, but shouldn't the option still be left in for slower systems?

I got a bit of a problem updating my set to .101 using clrmame

I got the Torrent update from .100 to .101, extracted the .DAT from the official .101build and I'm getting problems with CHD images

Looks like some folders changed, for example jdredd in jdreddt, area51 in area51t. I changed the folders but still getting missing disk images errors with a CRC check error.

Anyone else had similar problems or know how to fix it ?
