O.k. here's the thread to set up our own rules for Scrabble.......

start discussing and once we have agreements on them I'll replace this post with them.....

here's what I've seen so far (not set in stone)

1) Words must read left to right or downwards.

2) The players shall use only an online dictionary agreed upon before starting the game.

I think we should allow the word 'JAWA'.

Seriously, proper nouns, contractions, and abreviations. Are they allowed?

If they're in one of the dictionaries, yes.

I mean, if we're going to allow crap like KA, why not its?

can we add in the star wars dictionary? lol i coulda spelled yoda yesterday but its not in the dictionary, and we all know it should be

Okay, then maybe we should just agree on one online dictionary so we're all using the same set of allowable words. I think that one of the rules in real scrabble is that all players agree on which dictionary will be used for challenges before the game starts.

Because we keep putting down words that don't exist because that bottom dictionary seems to accept anything.

I say let's rule out the Sowpod??? dictionary it thinks everything with a vowel and consonant is a word.

well there is an option when you first setup the game to allow/disallow SOWPOD. but why? i think it makes the game more fun, you guys worried about getting beat by "GI" or "YE"

If we had numbers, we could allow l33tspeak.

I say we get rid of SOWPODS.

I also say we find some OTHER dictionary to use as well. You can rotate it by game... say, a Star Wars dictionary for one game, a football dictionary for the next.

Does that mean that if we were using the Star Wars dictionary we could only use Star Wars words? That would be pretty difficult to pull off.

The Star Wars one would be good... of course, having read about 65 of the books, I think I'd have a real advantage.
