Get a big hard drive & a copy of HDLoader/ Advance, then you can put all of your games on one disk. ;)

I've actually got the HDAdvance DVD, so I'm running it off that. Is there a noticable boot time difference between running it off the DVD and running it off a memory card? If so I might try it. My PS2 isn't modded, can I still run it off the memory card? If so is there more to it than just copying the HDLoader ELF file that you linked to onto a memory card?

so i have been thinking of doing this for a long time now, but it always confused me.
i now have the two rar files from spiffy shoes, and in the independence compiler, i ...

1. put in my ps1 disc and get the ID for the TITLE.DB, add it
2. leave as LaunchELF 3.4
3. add in the HDLFPP.ELF
4. none for me
5. NTSC for me
6. leave alone
7. leave alone?

select output to memory card and go.

then use a usb (action replay, i think) drive to get it on the memcard.

then every time i have the ps1 disc in my ps2 it will launch HDLoader?

am i missing anything? (my ps2 has a fliptop, btw, and swapmagis 3.3 i think)

thanks
- just say no to capitol letters -

I have the version of Action Replay that can use USB flash drives. The method orntar outlines sounds easier, in that I don't have to R&R my HD. Is there any reason why I can't do it that way?

The commercial version of HDAdvance comes on both CD and DVD.

If you get a modchip with Dev Mode capabilities you can boot straight from the Hard Drive or Memory Card without having to have a disc in the CD/DVD tray.

Have you tried adjusting your laser to see if it is just out of alignment?  Or do you know for sure that the CD Lazer has burned out.  You could see about getting it replaced.  I highly recomend NetMech for PS2 repairs.
