Any way to map a mouseclick to a keystroke?
« on: October 02, 2005, 04:57:22 pm »
What I'm trying to accomplish:  I want to map the mouseclick action to one of my buttons so that I can navigate without having to open up the drawer and pull out the mouse and keyboard.  Does anyone know of any hack/utility which accomplishes this?  Thanks.

Auto Hot Key.....  making a very simple script shoudl accomplish this. Of course this is 2k/xp only.  If you are running 98 then there isn't a viable way to press keys in other apps.

I don't remember exactly how, but on 98 I used something in the accessibility panel to make 2 keyboard keys act like mouse buttons. Mousekeys? I don't remember exactly, but I know it's possible in 98 to do what you want... I ended up just going back to leaving a mouse inside the door of the cabinet, though.

That's not a viable solution, unless you are one of those guys that like fraken-panels and want to have extra buttons just for mouse buttons.

And why exactly does this solution require extra mouse buttons? Why can't the mouse be wired to some of his existing buttons instead of the current interface? Most things will allow you to remap the controls to mouse clicks instead of keystrokes. For those that won't, the mouse could be connected to not frequently used buttons to limit the chance of incompatibilty.
