Which version of AdvMAME for 450MHz?

So, I have AdvMAME working (mostly) on my arcade setup, 450MHz AMD K6-2 w/ Happ Vision Pro 19" arcade monitor (vertical).  EasyMAMECab installed AdvMAME 0.92.1 I believe.  Pac-man ghosts are a little bit jerky, and Pac-mania is unplayably slow.  I am trying for an arcade-perfect display at least with the "classics." 

What AdvMAME version should I shoot for, do you think?

You likely won't get Pac-Mania at anywhere near a decent speed on that machine.  Pac-Man, however, I'm not sure why it's slow.  Do you have frameskip to zero, not auto?

I can get 350% framerate out of AdvMame.99 on an AMD 750 MHz athlon and 128 meg memory in DOS for many older games.

Yeah, what's up with that advice?  Different games produce different results, as I know you're aware.  Pacmania is a CPU hog.  I've got an Athlon XP 1GHz here, and just gave it a go.  I still get frame skip.  60/61FPS, but still.

Key word: ATHLON.  The OP is using a K6-2, which has notoriously poor floating point performance.

Clockspeed doesn't matter here.  While you're only 300MHz faster, the performance of true 686 technology with the Athlon core far outweighs what an old K6 (586) can push out, especially when it comes to float calculations.  Not to mention your internal bus is several times faster than his, which alters performance for the better yet again.

My suggestion is to change emulators.  RAINE is a fantastic emulator, and much faster than MAME, albeit with a smaller library of supported titles.  If it plays the titles you like, try using it instead on older hardware.
