Daphne 0.99.7 released! Linux version included!

I'm not sure why anyone hasn't noticed this yet, but a new version of Daphne came out on sep 24!

now supports DL2 and has a Linux binary!!!

All I need is a good FE for my arcade monitor, and I can kiss Windows goodbye!  With Linux, you'll have a more robust OS, faster boots, and overall faster performance (with a heck of a lot less maintenance!)

Anyone tried Daphne with Linux yet?

heh, you haven't been paying much attention.  Dahpne has supported dl2 for some time now, the pre-betas have been out for months.  (No pre-betas aren't wips you have to compile yourself, they are publically poseted on the homepage.)

Does this 'official' release have the 'beeps' in?
The other builds didn't 'beep' as you play.

i doubt it... version 99.7 is bascially the last pre build with some bugfixes.

I'm assuming this isn't "the" official release for DL2. I can't seem to find any reference to a newer version of DVD2daph yet. I bought the 3 pack 20th anniversary DVD ROM edition 3 years ago. Still have DL2 shrinkwrapped waiting for the day.

It's out there, it just wasn't going to be officially released until dl2 was officially released, which happened as of this build.  so expect it soon, assuming the dvd2daph guy hasn't decided to call it quits.

There is one out there (atleast for the stand alone dvd version, I dont
know if it works for the dvd-rom version)
I ripped my DVD using it.... and am using it on the PC

Here... Its called. (taken from .txt file) Maybe it does work with the
dvd-rom versions...?

I have heard some negative things about Convid2Daph for DL2.  The developers at the daphne site have said it stops playing at a certain level (4 or 6) and the emulation isn't very accurate.

Of course, can barely make it past the 2nd level without getting frusterated.

I've played up to the end... dont know what they are talking about.
Maybe on some systems, but worked fine for me.

Only thing missing was the 'beeps'.

....Now.. that was using the CSV build of daphne, playing DL II.

I just installed the 'official release' of daphne,
and DLII  does have the beeps!  whoohoo! 

I'm playing through it to see if there are any issues.
I've gotten up to the pyramid/mummy screen and haven't had
any issues yet.
(I just wish the dip switch could be changed to allow for 5
Dirks, instead of just 3)

Anyways, I'll let you know if I have any issues finishing the game
using Convvid2Daph2.6 (hopefully tonight)

This game is drivin me nuts!!
Not that it isn't working right... just
trying to remember the timing for the moves.
most, almost all moves, require you to push the direction
at the end or after the flash.  If you anticipte the move
too early and push right at the beginning of the flash....

And the fact that you cant continue once you get to the pyramid
screens doesn't help.
The trick here is to make sure to make it thru the Beethoven screen
on your FIRST Dirk, so you have all 3 to kill on the last 2 or 3 levels.

...okay.. that break was long enough... back to the game!

Didn't DL2 have a graphic overlay too?  I think that's the only thing missing.....

I was just informed that SPACE (sword) + key '9' will get you
into dip switch (digagnostic mode)
I should be able to crank 'lives' up to 5!

Havent gotten it to work yet...

I just found out the developers have this in Daphne, but it
was put in AFTER the latest release was put out... so we'll
have to wait for the next version
