american laser games pc gun drivers needed
« on: September 26, 2005, 08:14:41 am »
Does anyone know where to get drivers (for xp) to run the american laser games pc gun (the orange one that plugs into the serial and parallel port). I bought one off ebay very cheap and was hoping to get it going. Thanks

I don't know anything about these but I suspect you'll be very lucky to get it going in XP.  I imagine they were intended for DOS...

Yes Minwah i think you are right, i came across many forums with requests for these drivers with no reply and it seems they probably are for dos. The gun only cost me 99c so it is a fun project to - its no big deal if it doesn't work

You might have better luck by hacking a GunCon2 into it (or whatever the ps2 guns that people are using).

What monitor are you running?  Makes a difference.

But you can expect a HUGE development cycle to get a driver working... For something thats very hard to find the same ones.  And it might not even work with most monitors.

I would love to see someone develop a setup specific for hacking these old guns.  Like the optics and the buttons in the gun... and all electronics at the end so you don't have to worry about the actual space available inside the gun your hacking.  That would be pretty cool.

Well, does anyone have cash to blow frivolously? A solution might be to acquire a set of original ALG hardware and then "explore" what's running on it...
