Arcade Room Artwork / Pictures
« on: September 25, 2005, 10:12:55 pm »
This may be off topic but please bear with me.  I just created my arcade room and I need to add some pictures and artwork to it.  Does anyone know where I can get framed pictures or Cardboard video game standups for the room?  Any thing that I can decorate this thing with would be great but I have no idea where to start..  Thanks guys!

Hmm that's a good idea.  How many cabs you have though?  I think it needs 2+ to be an arcade room.   ;D

you also could get flyers from the Flyer database and frame those.  Thats what Im going to do.

Just do a search on google for "arcade flyers"

While some may see it as a waste, framed sideart (the conversion kit kind) can look awesome. Many are 18x24 which is a common frame size. I was thrilled a while back to win Street Fighter Alpha 2 sideart off of eBay. Many times the ones not in pairs go for very little. I think I won mine for $12.

I don't know if you have any where you live, but I have a place called Party Warehouse near me, they sell about 50 different cardboard standups. Look for a party supply store near you, and they may have them as well...

A while back someone had made up some light boxes to display marquees.
I thought they looked pretty cool.

I have original 27x40 inch framed Tron, Dragon's Lair, and Space Ace posters on my wall...it really takes you back and sets the mood.  I also have framed sideart from Sky Soldiers and well as a framed Rolling Stone magazine with Jeff Bridges on a Tron themed cover.  I like the idea of lit marquees and flyers on the wall; maybe you should try that.
It doesn't matter if you win or lose....it's how you play the videogame.

If you dig anime, you could hang up some wall scrolls, don't think they are too expensive. Might check into disco balls, trance lights, strobes, maybe stuff a PC in a jukebox and wire each corner with a speaker. Set up a movie/DDR PC with a media projector. You could cover the walls with boards of blinking christmass lights made to look like the control panels on the original Star Trek. Original or repro poster prints. Print out some glossy quality copies of "Joystick Magazine" or manga or the like to put on a cocktail cab or a relax/eat area table. Hey, I'm nerdy, I've thought about this enough already...  ;D

O yeah, and neon bar light style signs own too, I remeber seeing an Initial D Neon sign on e-bay one time, wanted it bad. Maybe a pay-phone or change machine too.
