Some pictures would really help to visualize what you're talking about and have done thus far... it's hard to give any constructive criticism (or otherwise ;)) without being able to see what's going on, IMHO.

well, since no one seems to have any opinions, i'm gonna start cracking down on the art.

i personally like the centipede art for the trackball panel, and i'm beginning to think that i'll only have one arch of buttons, to save money, on the left side.

as for the twin trigger grip panel, i'm fine with the assault, since it's really the only twin trigger stick panel anyways, but i'm not sure how it will look with color changes.

as for the racing games, i think i can get the spyhunter panel to work, but i don't want to use it for both and have no idea which one i should use it for...360 or 270?

Looks great so far - the centipede cpo looks like it would fit perfectly. Maybe make it more red than blue? (I'm assuming your painting the cab neo-geo red?)

yeah, he actually exists on the boards here, but i've never gotten a response from him.  I originally tried to get dimensions from him, but never heard back.  It's a nice looking cab, although some things aren't right.  i'm not crapping on his cab, but i'm going for the idea of paigeoliver having a hard time telling my cab apart from a real neo geo cab, which is saying it's got to be pretty exact.  this weekend i'm hoping to finish the last tweaks on the basic paint job and maybe do some preliminary wiring and other sorts of things.  long live the weekend.

ok, so i got around to cutting my t-molding slot last weekend, and so i pulled out a bit of t-molding to check the slot, and it turns out that they come in 20 ft rolls.  i guess i didn't read enough, but i figured that the minimum was 20 and you bought in lengths of 20...but no, you just get several rolls of 20 ft.  i'm not sure yet if this is going to be a problem, but i am pissed about it.  why not sell continuous rolls?  do they think i can't cut it myself?  i guess worst case scenario i can stick a chunk in on the bottom of my cab...

NOTE TO OTHERS:  t-molding.com sells in 20 ft rolls (40 ft = 2 x 20 ft rolls)

hopefully i'll get my monitor in there soon so that i can finish this cab up, that's really all that is holding me back.  I'm not quite sure how i'm going to measure where it needs to be though...i guess someone willl hold it in place while another person measures and checks.

Hey Jon -- I haven't forgotten about the measurements for the artwork (OK, I did forget, but remember now). I'll be heading out of town this afternoon for the weekend, but will be back Monday. I've got to move some cabinets around when I get back and will try to remember to get the measurements on my MVS25 then.

Cheers.

well, i haven't updated in a while, and i was sure suprised to find my thread on the fourth page, but lets get to the point.

i finally had an artist come through and make me some great artwork.  he's still finishing up some small tweaks, but it looks great so far.  there is a taste of my marquee at the end of the post.

as for the cab, i've got the monitor in as well as the glass and bezel and the marquee light.  once i get the marquee finalized, i'll get that in, as well as making the final piece, the first control panel.

although you'd think that after so long, i'd have all my controls for my two player panel, but at last, after 6 months of waiting, i won't be getting my 49-ways.  does anyone know when the next sale on 49-ways will be?

well, till next weekend...

well, i guess i should update.  the cab is 95 percent compete and i'm just finishing the wiring and programming and then it will be working.  i still have control panel artwork, some sideart stenciling and a marquee to produce, but other than that, the bulk of the project is finally done.  thank goodness for the month that is winter vacation.  i hope it's up and running for good by the first couple weeks of winter term.

oh, and i'll try to get more production pics up in the meantime and maybe redo the crappy pics i've already posted.

oh, just a sidenote, if your going to be putting alot of time and energy into building your cab, don't cheap out on anything.  i cheaped out on the two pieces of wood that made up my side panels and they gave me about three days of extra work to fill in holes and flatten it all out with wood filler, and i didn't even finish it.  on the rear and bottom, you can really tell it's made out of crappy plywood.

the lesson, if you want it to look good, don't cheap out.  hopefully i'l have more pics up tonight.
