Assigning spinners with the tab menu
« on: September 22, 2005, 01:02:22 pm »
Hello everyone.

about 2 weeks ago I was trying to figure out how to get 4 spinners working.

Well, I was pointed in the direction of using analogXPv81 which I have now.

I have 3 out of the 4 spinners working. At the time, it looked like one of my slikstik spinners went bad so I sent it in to Slikstik. They fixed it up for me and sent it back.

When I plugged it in the computer recognized it (whereas it didn't before) but when I jumped into mame, I sitll only got 3 out of 4 spinners working.

I think this is some sort of mapping problem, no? I know it works, I just don't know how to get mame analogxp to see it.

I know that someone else was hinting around at this same problem.

please refresh my memory on what I need to do.

I set the mouse input options for: 1
Here is my cfg file:

### Analog+ options ###
singlemouse             0
switchablemice          1
switchmiceaxes          1
splitmouseaxes          0
resetmouseaxes          0
lightgun2a              0
lightgun2b              0
multimouse_winxp        1
williams49way           0

Thanks in advance.

Your ini file looks good.  When you tab in the game, there should be an option "Mouse Controls".  Go into there and change the player-that-doesn't-work's mouse to the newly working spinner.

Also, try running verbose set to one and look at the output on the commandline.  See how many mice were found.  If all mice were found, it should be at least 5 (five): the four spinners, the "system mouse", plus any other USB mice you have attached.  MameAnalog+ can see up to 8 USB mice (plus the system mouse for a "total" of 9).

Thanks Urebel.

I think I'm getting warmer.

I ran the command line and it said I have 7 mice (so I think were good to go there)

I'm still having problems with the last mouse assigment.

I reset the credit switch to be number 5. and the player start switches to be 1-4: start player 1   being the number 1 key etc.

now when I press player 4 start, I still get no mouse movment on that player.  I switched the mice to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the mouse. And the mouse would work in another position. Could it be my 4 way usb splitter? It's one of the Belkins

I tried an experiment by tabing and then going into mouse controls. From there I assigned player 4 (the one that isn't working) as the sysmouse. When I would return to the game, all players would effect themselves including 4. So 1 would affect 1 and 4, 2 would affect 2 and 4, 3 would affect 3 and 4 but 4 would only effect itself. So now I know that all 4 spinners are sending information.

Any ideas on where to go from here?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Urebel.

I think I got it. I went ahead and deleated my cfg files and let them recreate when I ran the exe. THAT DID IT!!!! I think thinks just got jumbled up with all the resets and what not. The computer didn't seem to know what to do anymore. So it looks like it was a cpu/winXP problem I guess.

Nothing wrong with your system!! Works great!! Never thought I'd see the day to see 4 spinners working on one cabinet!! (now I just have to finish building the darn thing!!!) Thanks for writing the code for that way back when!!!

Now...If I can only get my front end to work!!!

Thanks for your help.
