Un-modifying a Sharp 200XIN? (Duh, resolved)
« on: September 20, 2005, 08:36:57 pm »
I have one of these Sharp monitors in my Playchoice 10 cab, which when I bought it, was a converted Neo Geo cab.

I believe the monitor has been modified to accept regular video, not inverted video, since there's no sign of an inverter between the jamma harness and the plug on the chassis.  Googling around talks about converting Sanyo monitors to accept regular video, but not Sharps like this one, but apparently it either happened, or this monitor isnt stock? I find the latter hard to believe, since the tube has significant burn from its original life as a PC10, or at least, it sure aint neo geo burn.

Anyhow, I want to reinstall a Playchoice 10, and have a working board, but of course video is inverted.  Rather than complicate things with a seperate inverter, I'd like to just re-un-convert the converted monitor.  You know what I mean, make it accept inverted video again.

Anyone know what's involved in this?  Is it possible?  Right now the cab is jamma wired, and I'm not changing this (building a loom) so maybe I should just leave it as-is and use an inverter and external amp to properly jamma-tize my PC10 board..  Thoughts, questions, concerns?

*EDIT*  I will leave this post as testament to my stupidity, and info for future generations..

This monitor has a big fat switch labeled "video polarity", you flip it, and in the words of the great Glen Quagmire:  "Giggity giggity giggity giggity giggity goo!"

I'll post my other PC10 questions in a more appropriate fora
