Vertical Games Shift to the left
« on: September 20, 2005, 11:49:40 am »
I have put together a Pentium 3 1Ghz machine for running Mame.  I rebuilt my 0.79 romset to 0.55 and picked up Mame and Mame32.  The horizontal games work fine, but the vertical ones are shifted to the left instead of showing in the center of the monitor.  I am using a PC monitor.  Both the command line version and Mame32 version do this.  Can anyone help me get the vertical oriented games to show in the center of the screen?

Try another PC monitor?

I tried that.  After putting it on the other monitor and watching the results, I think it is the onboard video.  I don't think it likes the lower resolutions.  I need to try to find a video card that will fit into the case.  It is one of those mini dell cases so a full size video card will not fit.

If you had the PC out of it's case or the lid off would a decent Video card fit in then?

And if so does the case have to have the lid on it if you are going to put it in a cabinet anyway?

Yes, the card should fit if the lid is open, but the lid doesn't come off.  It is a clamshell like case.  I think I have ashort card that will fit, so the only problem will be the metal strip that screws down to the case.  I may need to take that off.
