Dual Mouse MAME
« on: September 18, 2005, 02:39:47 pm »
Any suggestions for a current command line version of something like AnalogMAME or NONAMEMAME that will support multiple mice and lightguns and runs under XP?  Ideally it would also have an option for removing the warnings (which I find annoying).

I was running nonamexp, but recently looked into upgrading roms and found that both noname and analogmame do not have 0.99 or 0.100 versions.

I'm willing to compile my own if required, but need something that at least has the analog files set up to run xp as a starting point.

Thanks,
Doc-

No Name MAME will exist again. I feel like I've been saying that for a while, but I really mean it this time. Dell shipped Jigen out early last week and he should be here on Tuesday. At that point I will (working around my classes, but I've had a bunch of free time so far) work on No Name MAME again. I'm not too familiar with what the MAMEdevs have done to the input system since I last updated, but I'll definately look into the multiple mice.

That's fantastic news - I always found noname to have the best combination of features overall!  Please resurrect it (preferrably in a 0.99 or 0.100 format!!

Agreed!  I would love to see a new build of NoNAME.

Also, I think Urebel is working on a new build of Analog plus.

In the mean time, I think Advance MAME supports dual mice under XP.

I have always based No Name MAME on the most recent release available at the time, including the "u" releases. I plan to continue doing that. Anyways, I just got an e-mail from the post office, so there is a good chance Jigen is here now, I'm going to go down and check right now.

UPDATE: It is here. As of this moment I have no monitor, but I'll be able to use my TV and/or VNC software until my mom brings it up. I just have to borrow some else's for just long enough to install the drivers for my graphics card.

Question...if all I need is to get 2 lightguns working in xp, what advantages does analog v83.2(the last one to work in xp) have over advancemame?
It looks like advancemame is more current/in synch with official mame. I am currently am running analog+ for my gun games, but there are games that have been released sinced 83.2 that I would like to play as well.

To sum up, should I switch over to advancemame for my gun games?

(I'm running xp sp2)

From what I've read, current  Advancemame has the most up-to-date code for 2 lightguns - it has specific support for dual actlabs and dual guncons (although it is using only 1 of the 2 available guncon drivers).

The catch is that they have added there own "auto-calibration" which runs all the time - you just move the gun around the whole screen. Reportedly - although this works, it is nowhere near as accurate as calibrating using the drivers own setup. (I think this is guncon2 only)

I've not tried it so can't report. What would be great is the rawinput type stuff advancemame incorporates being used in standard mame or derivative without the forced auto-calibration...

I am agree with you. We need a new version of nonamemame (and nonamemame32, of course) or mameanalog+(also with the mame32 version).

Advancemame is very dependent of the hardware you have to configure the video. And it misses other features like streech hardware (i think) and some filters like triple buffering, etc...

I am trying to configure properly for two months the video, to play with the correct resolution and correct frame rate. Of course I use windowsXP, the most abandon version of advancemame.

Anyway, the question is: Why MameDev Team don't want to include the raw input for Windows 98 and XP into the regural version of mame windows?

PD.- Doc, I built a cab based in your incredible work!

Working on it. College has been keeping me busy. I have a version of MAME 0.101 with a few changes, nothing worth releasing yet. I haven't had too much time to work. The first release won't be too impressive.
