Newbie - Help, have i been sold a pup!
« on: September 13, 2005, 03:48:22 pm »
Hi

Bought a jamma cab a month ago and saw it working etc. Transported it home very carefully and put it in my garage .  I have just bought my first pcb from a reputable online seller, it arrived today and i inserted it into the cab.  I was careful t match up Parts side on loom to parts side on board, i closed up cab and switched on.

Oh dear, i get a screen full of green scrolling rubbish, I can make nothing out on the display and there apears to be no sound.

Am i doing something wrong, or have i been sold a dodgy cabinet or a dodgy board.

Any comments appreciated.  My wife is scowling at me considering the number of pairs of shoes she could have bought for the

you could start by telling us what board came with the cab and what board you bought to put in it?

Sorry - No board came with the cab but I saw it working with a simple shoot em up style invade game.  The game i have installed is 10 yard fight which is Irem with a jamma converter

Well, just to give you relief, not all boards use the exact same monitor rates, so that means sometimes, just sometimes, you have to adjust the Vertical Hold. Do that, and your scrolling should stop. Then you'll be in a better position to see what else is going on...

Did you check the whole cabinet for lose parts, wires, etc before powering up?
NO MORE!!
