yeah i downloaded the desktop Os or whatever and my computer wont sync with it? im using a usb cable to hook itup, and my coputer says uknown, when i try to open whats there? i think i just need help syncing it now. but even once i did sync it how would i look at pics and listen to mp3"s?
That borders on "Engrish"

Let's go through this.
You downloaded the Desktop OS or whatever. Those 3 things are rather vague in stating what you actually obtained, downloaded, and installed, and remember kids, "downloaded"
does not mean the same thing as "installed", much as my in-laws want to believe that it does

What exactly did you download? The Palm Desktop? The Palm OS? And I dunno what "whatever" is. I also don't know if you installed the Palm Desktop and followed the instructions which generally tell you not to plug the USB cable into your Palm until instructed to do so in the setup program.
What does "my computer says unknonwn" mean? What are the steps you take from start to finish that causes your computer to say "unknown", and what verbage is present when you interpret it to be saying "unknown"? That's WAAAAAAAY too vague a description of what's happening.
What IS there that you are trying to "open", what might it be labeled, etc?
i think i just need help syncing it now. but even once i did sync it how would i look at pics and listen to mp3"s?
STOP! I'm surprised you got the thing charged and/or put batteries in it properly! You DON'T even have it operating functionally with your computer yet, and you want to know all the rest of the "stuff" you can do with it? Maybe it's just ME, but I'm the kind of person who wants it to work first before seeing if I can jump the Grand Canyon.
I don't even know where to start with helping you, other than to give you this tip which commonly seems to be missing from your posts: Always give us as much information about your PROBLEM as you can WRITE DOWN, not "remember". You're putting the people capable of helping you in a disadvantageous position, and the help given may even in some cases screw up your situation even worse.
These shoudl be your steps.
- download proper software
- install proper downloaded software, following all instructions to the letter
- go back and uninstall software since you jumped ahead and screwed somethign up. It isn't a "it prolly don't matter anyhoo" thing.
- read "readme.txt" of proper downloaded software
- Test software to see if it works as you believe and need it to
- troubleshoot, if need be
- if troubleshooting is not needed, NOW start trying to enhance the capabilities of the thing you weren't even capable of using only mere minutes ago
- lather
- rinse
- repeat
I'm off to sleep, but on the odd chance that someone isn't by to help you out tomorrow (or shortly), write down as much info as you can about what happens when it effs up on you, and I'll help you as much as you help yourself in your postings about what's going on wrong. Are you under 18, by some odd chance?
