Project Dilemma!
« on: September 10, 2005, 12:52:07 pm »
Many of you are aware of my crisis within my life.  This of course has caused me to move to a smaller apartment and such now my grand plans for my project have been placed on hold.  Now I need suggestions.  I no longer have access to tools, nor a place to use them.  I have a small location now.

I am considering building a stand alone pedestal with 2 player controls on it or just separate controllers hooked to a PC.

What I am wondering is what would everyone suggest?  I hate for the awesome sideart made by Felsir to go to waste (considering he did awesome and I paid for it) but I really dont have much choice.

Ideas?

IMO, it depends on what you want. If you just want to play the games: desktop controller.

If you really want an arcade cabinet, art, sound, etc, don't settle for less.

Even though it may seem more difficult now, you actually probably have more time/space to work on it than you think. Find a friend with tool/garage/shop/etc. Buy him lots of beer/pizza for help on the project.

The pedestal will take as much room as a full cabinet.

Also, cabinets really don't take all that much space.

Since you are in a smaller place though, then I suggest refitting an existin 19" cabinet, rather than trying to scratchbuild one.

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Besides, it's not really going to waste, you can save it until a later time when you are not in a tiny place with no access to tools.  I would recommend getting a cab that will take a 25" and using that for now.  Paige is right, one upright doesn't take much more space than an end table.

Heh the only problem....  If I get the cab I have to move my Bowflex...which I happen to be using religiously right now.

So heres the question.  Anyone interested in building some Joysticks for me?  I'll supply Joys and Buttons.  All I need is the housings, matching lexan, and a hacked PS2 pad inside.

Let me know.

Stop worshipping the Bowflex and actually use it.

I used to view my workout room as a torture area... but for some reason I loved it.

Dude, I do use it.  ;)  Since the move its been an everyday thing.  Outside of Saturday and Sunday.  Saturdays because I am wrestling and Sunday because I am healing.  ;)
