Snot and Sony Trinitron
« on: September 07, 2005, 08:59:14 am »
This morning I get on the computer to find I have some sort of mark on my monitor. Looks like a drop of liquid dried on the screen. It's possible I sneezed last night and didn't notice I got something on the screen!

I've tried cleaning it off and it just doesn't come off. It actually looks like a mark in the screen surface rather than something ON it.

I've heard that Sony Trinitrons have a protective "anti-glare" layer. So my question is: Is it possible for spit/stuff to have eaten away a spot of that layer??

Dirt and smudges on my monitor drive me nuts, so I keep it spotless. This spot though is fairly noticable and is driving me nuts!

Your saliva is now toxic.  Stop spending so much time in front of elecromagnetic devices and go outside to visit some trees.

How did you go about trying to clean it? If you used ordinary glass cleaner or something; that alone can damage those "anti-glare" type finishes on a monitor and result in permanent smears. I hate those types of finishes BTW; more hassle than they are worth. There are special cleaners for use with that type of finish I believe.
