Not at all.  Replace away.

The voltate rating isn't how much it'll allow the cap to pass thru it, it's the maximum voltage that the cap will take before *pop*.

The only caveat to a larger voltage cap is the more voltage they handle, the bigger they are.  With such a small increase in voltage, I doubt you'll have any problems.  Unless you went from a 16V to a 250V, then you might have a problem!

Thanks for the advice.  The capacitor has been replaced, but now I have another capacitor replacement question.

I found a place on the board where a capacitor seems to be broken off completely.  Is there any way I can find out what value the capacitor was? 

FWIW, its C2 on the CPU board of Out Run.

You can find out pretty much the way you did: asking someone who has one to compare.

Try asking on RGVAC.

He could also get the schematic and read it.  If he's capable of replacing caps he should be able to teach himself to find one on the schematic and look up its value in the parts table.

Before I posted on here, I searched for a schematic but couldn't find anything.  If you could point me in the right direction of finding one, I'd appreciate it.

Check the owner's manual, downloadable at klov.com.  I took a peek, not sure that schematic is detailed enough to give you what you want.  Try asking at RGVAC to see if there was a service manual with a component level schematic.

Yeah, I have the owners manual, but it's basically just a wiring diagram.  I'll have to check out RGVAC...  Now I have to find out my isp's news server...

Another quick question.

I think he actually means layers.

Old arcade boards aren't layered, they only have traces front and back, none on the "inside". Newer ones break that rule.

Are you sure the position you are talking about is ever supposed to be populated?

He'll be sure once he has found that spot on the schematic... it IS possible that it should be empty, unless he actually sees broken legs on his board.

Is this board double sided?  The traces could be on the other side of the board, with through plating in the holes.
