BreakQuest DEMO control problems
« on: September 03, 2005, 08:10:24 am »
Having read the glowing review in the Games Review forum, and seeing it as a prize on RetroBlast!, I decided to give BreakQuest a go.  In the review, it's mentioned that the author of the game responded to some cabinet-hostile control issues, which sounded great, but I'm still running into a couple brick walls.

First of all, my mouse is outta control in the game, i.e., a very, very slight movement sends it careening across the screen, and it would just be pure dumb luck if it actually landed on what I wish to click.  This isn't an issue most of the time, as I can navigate the menus just fine with a joystick and button, but once it's time to choose my difficulty, ship type, and level in Quest Mode, it seems that the mouse must be the only way to do it.  After much frustration trying to wrangle my pointer over the first level icon, I gave up and exited -- only to be presented with the obligatory nag screen, which also required a mouse click.  More pointer frustration ensued, until I finally just gave it the three-finger salute.

Were the control issues only fixed in the registered version?  That's kind of crazy, because I, for one, won't buy it if I can't even try it out first.  I really would like to try this game, so please let me know if I'm doing something stupid/ignorant.
