Ok ive managed to resize existing layouts downloaded from the web, using photoshop, and have loaded the background within Mamewah Layout designer, changed all the screen, title, game list layout so it fits, and saved it as a lay file. But now when i load mamewah up it doesnt show the background image, its just a solid grey colour, why is this??

Ensure that the background file is named appropriately - see \docs\layouts.txt for an explanation.

Also, if you made the layout from scratch you might need to make some/all of the objects transparent to see the image 'through' the other objects.

It's normally the image filename or location.  Are you sure you have it right (\layouts\layoutname\main.jpg etc.)?

Yeah cos im using the mamewah config program, and for that u just click on the layout you want. Thought when i select my made up layout it does not show a preview picture of the layout like it does for all the other downloaded layouts

When I wasn't getting a preview image, my files were named incorrectly.  If the directory was called layout1, I needed to name the background image layout1-main.jpg inside that directory.
