Burn In (maybe OT)...
« on: August 31, 2005, 11:23:24 pm »
Just got back from a trip to Cleveland, and played the usual Ms.Pac-Man / Galaga Reunion machine in the bus station.  (The fire button is pretty screwed, in case anyone is heading there.)  Anyway, I noticed that the screen has significant Ms.Pac burn in!  On a machine just a few years old!!  Anyway, I was pretty surprised.

P.S. - I hate that continue feature, makes the high scores meaningless...

This will happen fairly quickly (quickly as within a couple years) because of the static images on the screen.  It'll get worse before it gets better.

I know why burn in happens ... just didn't think it happened within like 3 years.  On a new monitor!  Guess CRT tech has not improved at all.

It's the same exact image, displayed every day, all day long. Makes sense.
NO MORE!!

I've seen a 1943 get serious burn-in within a month, but the "1943" logo is on in the same place no matter what...
