Light Gun Calibration
« on: August 31, 2005, 10:52:29 am »
Received my new light gun from Act Lab yesterday.   :)  Was very easy to hook up.  According to the instructions in order to calibrate it I'm supposed to flip the side switch down which turns the screen into solid gray.  I'm then supposed to hold the gun close to the screen and move it vertically and horizontally.  I don't see anything happening when I do this and when I use it in a game there is no accurracy.

Anyone else run into this?  I didn't see anything on Act Lab website.  Thanks.

I don't have the new model, but you need to calibrate any time you change the resolution.  IE: you need to calibrate after the game starts.  Make sure you go all the way past the edges.

In mame, make sure joystick is disabled.

Can't help ya with your gun, but glad to hear you got it.  I ordered one too, but am on the east coast.  At least I know it's on the way!!!

Let me know how you like it once everything's set.

You have to make sure the gun is calibrated in the actual game... for terminator 2 for example, you have to go into the games options and use your mouse to make sure everything is set up. Once this is done and you start the game, Id reccomend turning the screen white and going up and down with the gun once again just to make sure its accuracy on the monitor is done. You dont have to calibrate the gun in every game, but 2 I know you do are revolution X and terminator 2.  Other than that, before each game just run it vertically and horizontally up the screen and it should be ok.

I'm worried that the screen turns grey. My new model did that to. It SHOULD turn white. Could the new guns be faulty?

I thought the new guns were supposed to flash a not-as-bright white than the older guns.  On my old guns, when I calibrate, the screen turns a darkish white, almost gray.  If the new ones aren't as bright, I wouldn't be suprised that the calibration screen is gray.

Any one else with a new gun who can comfirm or deny the gray screen o calibration?  Or someone with both the new and the old who can compair the brightness of the flash and calibration?
