Question: Mamewah 1.61 and {music} option.
« on: August 30, 2005, 12:56:46 pm »
I was trying to set up mamewah so that I had the option to have music playing in the background during gameplay.  I was trying to set it up so that when I launched an emulator using the alt commandline format that music would then play during gameplay and when I launched an emulator normally that music would not play.

The problem I ran into was that the {music} tag did not work on the alt commandline format setting.  It would only work if you put it on the main commandline format line.  Is there anyway to work around this Minwah?

Also this got me thinking that it would be a nice option to be able to define a keypress that would allow a person to toggle background music on and off.  You could even go one step further and have a keypress that would allow you to toggle only the background music during gameplay on and off.

Not sure...it should work as long as you have the launch key mapped in the ctrlr file.

On a similar topic tho, for various reasons I have removed the alt_commandline stuff in my latest betas, so don't get too attached to it ;)

Yes I will probably add this, either a pause or mute function.

Nope, I will leave this as-is...

I was playing around with the {music} option and I noticed that after starting a game with background music playing that once it finishes the song that is playing it will not play another one.  As soon as you exit the game though, another song will start playing.
Can someone else please test this?  Maybe it is fixed in the new beta version?

Sounds right actually...I've never tested it long enough to bring it to my attention.

I'll see what I can do...to be honest I don't like doing things in the background as it uses CPU, but then it does already to play the music (& one can always not use the feature).

Thanks for checking into it.
