31khz VGA monitor connection.

hi, ive searched through and havnt found a definitive answer so ill ask it here. when monitors such as a the WG9200 and other 31khz VGA monitors have the standard 15 pin computer monitor type conenctor, is there any risk of damaging the monitor by plugging it directly into the video card? the good thing about these monitors is there is no stuffing around with hacks etc? they just plug and play? is this correct or am i missing some important information that could ruin a monitor?

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the VGA arcade monitors are just really PC monitors in arcade mountings.  Just plug it into your video card and away you go.  :)

You could damage the monitor if tried to...  You should not exceed the maximum resolution or refresh rate of the monitor.
In Windows, you should set your monitor type to 'Super VGA 800x600' for the WG9200, and Windows will play nice.

Well you are wrong and right  ;);D.
They work just like PC monitors except they have scanlines(yes it makes a difference,games look really nice and NOT blocky).

Well.. I do not think you could damage the monitor even if you tried..

I spoke to Chuck Rabiola at wells gardner and he stated that if you send a signal that can not be displayed on the D9200.. it will display "Signal out of range" like it does on many modern PC monitors..

So yes, you can just plug it into your PC.  It would be hard to damage the monitor by accident.  If you want it to display something though.. you will need it 800x600 or lower resolution in windows.  I don't have anything firm on the refresh rate limit.. but 60hz should be fine.
