Go from MameWAH Shell to Windows 98?
« on: August 27, 2005, 06:12:45 pm »
Is there a way to leave MAMEWAH, when I went into it as a Shell, and then on "Run an App on Exit" starting up the Windows 98 desktop? :-\

I looked around the boards for a good solutions, but did not find one yet...this post seems to be digging for XP, but did not find an answer?

I am not sure, but you might have to run Mamewah from your Startup folder (rather than shell) to achieve what you want.

Yea, that is one easy way to do it, but I love the "boot into Mamewah" look using the shell.  I can run c:windows\explorer.exe, but this only gets me an explorer window...which lets me do a lot.  From here I can modify the system.ini back, and reboot...but what a pain.

It would be ok if the run app command shot me back to a c: prompt, but not sure how to do that?  Then I could just type "win"...ooops that wont work, since it will hit the system.ini again and throw me back into mamewah, I suppose...???

Damn! >:(

Maybe you could have Mamewah run a batch file which edits/replaces system.ini and reboots the system?

That's exactly what I did on my brother's system.  Had a batch file that replaced system.ini and the mouse cursors (changed from transparent to normal).  Then another batch file to do the opposite when in the Win98 explorer shell.  Worked great.

I'd still like to know why this only happens on some systems...on my cab I can exit mamewah and run explorer.exe and have everything be happy..
