That's rediculous.  You should only get penalized if you put him through the boards.  Sounds like my 12 year old daughter's soccer team (read:timid).

Frosty: I don't think you've seen enough OHL hockey.  That's some nasty violence on skates.

Hmm.. Hockey Injuries, let me list them after playing hockey for 24 years.

- 2nd degree Sprained Ankle
- 2 Separated Shoulders
- Had my 2 front teeth chipped by a high-stick
- Had my eyebrow cut open by a high-stick
- Nice scar above my eye when the helmet cut my eye after getting hit with my head down

Now my brother had one of the worst injuries.  He was playing in a Triple AAA tourney in the mide 80's.  And back then they used to put the nets 6 inch spikes so the net wouldn't move.  So my brother was going down on a breakaway and he was tripped up and slid into the solid goal post forarm first.  He broke his arm in 3 places..

Oh, what I listed were just my bad cuts.  I injured myself plenty.  Hell, I injured myself walking back to the locker room once.  Broke my hand punching the wall after we lost 20-3 and my teammates were laughing and joking on the way off the ice.

I played high school hockey with Steve Ruccin (look him up if you've never heard of him).

I was going to punch the guys laughing, but wanted to get my skates off first.  Then my hand broke and the thought of more punching wasn't as pleasing.

BTW, it doesn't matter if you're 20-0 or 0-20, a teammate intentionally tanking on the ice deserves to have his ass kicked.

Hate to say it, but Steve didn't kick ---my bottom---, I don't think I'm as tiny as you imagine. That said I ran into Steve 2 years ago at Christmas, he was in town visiting his folks, and I gotta say, the boy was ripped.  I'm glad he wasn't still angry (I don't think he even rememberd to be honest, and I didn't bring it up!), but he said that they have to do a 2 hour workout after every game, plus he has a personal trainer.

And to this day: If I want to hang out with some beer and my girlfriend (she was a sweeeet girl at the time), instead of a road trip to Detroit on the weekend, then I'm flubbing the puck to the offence.  You got a problem?  We'll take it up in the locker room (unless you punch a wall first)  ;D

Zakk, are you part French? ;)

Yeah, I gotta say it'd be pretty funny to see Chad punch a wall because he was so mad at you.  Not like funny ha ha, just funny strange.

That's cuz you've got serious control issues.  We won the season, the whole thing was a showcase for the school, not for us.  It was all over but the dancing.  I was in protest the whole game, hell I was one of their best scoring forwards (number 2 behind Ruccin) and they put me on defense because I flat out told them it was BS and I wasn't going for the goals.  I only showed up cuz I didn't want to 'let the team down'.

:P Take yer self-righteous tirade elsewhere.  You wouldn't have kicked me off the team because I would have flat out outplayed you the whole season.  The only reason Stevie got mad was BECAUSE I was a good player.  A wall puncher wouldn't have even got him miffed, because a zero player couldn't have made a difference to the game.

So let it go, if it makes you feel any better, I would have let you take my place for that game, even if you've never played a game of hockey in your life.  You could have played your little heart out and felt all warm and fuzzy inside.  I stayed home and had an awesome weekend if I recall correctly.  Steve went on to millions of dollars per year, and I went on to....well less than that (but not much!).

I had my glove on.  I didn't think I would break my hand with the glove on.  I was wrong.

Why don't black people play hockey?

Why don't black people play hockey?

They do.  There's just not many of them.  Dunno why there aren't more black players, but mebbe it has something to do with having to hit something on the ground with an implement.  I say this because there doesn't seem to be a large number of black people playing golf either.

My buddy's two kids play roller hockey in their league, and each team is pretty racially diverse.  Mebbe in the near future?

In my experience, several things.  First, in the US, it's an economic thing.  Hockey in the US, in many areas, can cost a grand in league fees alone for a youth season.  That is per player.  A full set of equipment can easily run hundreds, and with growing kids, that is every other year.  As much as it kills me, my kids don't play hockey because we can't afford it.

Second, at least among the black folks I know, there is no interest.  Reasons such as lack of role models in hockey are often cited.

Third, of the black kids I did play with, they had a HARD time sometimes with racism on the ice.  White kids, who would keep their mouth shut face to face, feel empowered with a mask, stick, and full equipment on to say anything on the ice.  I heard things on the ice that would get the speaker killed in a parking lot, both in the Canada and in New England.  I don't see why a black kid would want to subject themselves to that.

I picked it up this weekend.  Great fun.
Does anyone know if the ps2 can network with a pc version? I'm guessing not.

And the booklet doesn't say how many can play multiplayer.  I assume 4 the local multiplayer modes is 4 player.
