New ACT Labs Lightgun
« on: August 24, 2005, 11:23:40 pm »
Anyone tried the cool new "pistol" version?

Any idea why is it $50 more than the old "space gun" style  :o?!?!? It better recoil like the arcade police trainer guns for THAT kinda jack!

Thank goodness I bought several of the old style guns at $30 when I had the chance!

Yep, I've seen a couple of threads on it.

they are running them in much smaller runs.

but now they are showing that they will re-run them.  Initially they said that the first run would be it... but I think they made enought that they will do it again....

Well have to see how the second run does.  The first might have been people expecting to resell them on ebay in a few months... And they aren't going to sell at a profit until actlabs stops selling them...  So people might not be buying large quantities any more.

I don't like pre-ordering stuff. If they go for regular sale again I'll likely buy one (or two). Otherwise, naw.

So I take it that mechanically, the new gun is the same as the old, right?

The big question is if they extended the cable. In all the Mame cabinets I sold with guns, I had to painstakingly extend them myself  >:(. Never had any interference problems at all, even using cheap, unshielded wire. So they can't try conning us with THAT excuse!

I mean, seriously... who's sitting at home playing 2 player Police Trainer, Area 51, or Zero Point on their 15" computer monitor?!?!? They should market the guns to us, the arcade fanatics with upright cabinets and 27" Wells Gardner D9200 monitors!

And yes, I want my guns to recoil.... soooo cool in the arcades  8).
