Why not? Its not like thier substitute goalie can handle it.

And what kind of team doesn't have a good backup for every position. They should have had someone who could have held them to 20% of that at the minimum

Uh, because a teammate who would ditch the team for a concert, knowing that the rest of the team would take such a beating, should not be welcomed back to the team.  They clearly do not care about the team.

That said, what, did the rest of the D go with her?  When does a team get 50+ shots on goal?

I agree I'd fire her on the spot if I was her coach. I'm just saying they don't have a suitible replacement. wich could cause me to hold off on termination until I found one.

Thats what I had thought, even with a crappy goalie and their current defense more than 10 points seems like a whoopin.

Holy crap, 50 goals? I assume the sub goalie must be a scarecrow or maybe a mannequin.

I like how he blames her too. (even though it is her fault) but it sounds like he's just bitter that he got 50 goals scored against him.

"SK Berlaar's goal was left unguarded in a match with FC Malines after their goalie opted instead to go to a rock festival, Het Laatste Nieuws reported on Monday." ???

Well that would explain the high score, but begs the question why wouldn't they have a back up or play someone else in that position.

You'd think they'd just snag someone out of the crowd rather than leave the goal untended.

Well, if there are rules for rosters, they can't stick in someone who wasn't on the roster.  If they didn't have enough players to field the full amount of players, then some spot had to be left open.  Why the goal, I have no idea.

sounds like the scool secritary is bitter too.

Quote
But SK Berlaar's secretary, Jan Verbinnen, was unmoved by the loss and saw a way of inverting the outcome, noting that the other team had registered 16 instead of 15 players for the match.

"If I tell the [soccer] federation, they will have lost the match 5-0 and will be eliminated from the championships," he told the newspaper. -- AFP[/quote

Conflicting data in the same article (and with MSN's

""Our keeper went to Pukkel Pop. That's why," substitute goalkeeper Charlotte Jacobs told Het Laatste Nieuws daily on Monday."

"Kick-off, move upfield and in it goes. That was repeated without a halt. At half-time, it was already 27 to 0," the Flemish newspaper said, describing how 16-year-old Charlotte Jacobs tried in vain to defend the goal in the absence of the usual goalkeeper.

Hmmmmm....
