Monitor Voltage Problem..need help
« on: August 21, 2005, 09:29:54 am »
Hi all,

I have the following set up:
LS 29" Candy cab, with 29" monitor (don't know the make)
PC / Arcade VGA / J-Pac

The system works perfectly and sf2 is a joy to play !

However.. i have an ongoing problem which I've posted on every forum I know and am slowly trying to narrow down the problem.

Basically, depending on how much white or light colours are being displayed on the screen, this will determine the monitor brightness. For example playing sega rally 2 (the pc version) the game will become to dark to play when you go into a dark area like a tunnel...then when you come out into an area with lots of sky - it go's to bright !

On viewpoint for example the floor on the first level is a dark grey and you can't make out any detail at all. Also baseball stars 2 which mainley has a green pitch seems to have the brightness too dark again.

To prove this point when I paly SFA3 with every colour on screen at the same time it runs flawlessley ! however when you pull off a supermove win for example and the screen become a bright green flash, you can actually see your character changing colour.

Someone told me it sounds like a voltage problem with the monitor.....if so is there anyway at all to fix this as its driving me mad !

ps - I have left the arcade machine power supply and monitor transformer connected, as weel as the pc power supply, not sure if this may be causing a problem. There is also a voltage dial on the arcade power supply, which is currently set at about 5.2volts..should i change this ??

Thanks,
Mark

You could probally use a cap kit on the monitor, esp the power supply section.

Find out what make and model and give zanen a call, if you can't figure out the monitor just yank the chassis and write down ALL the caps and fax them to zanen and he will put you a custom kit together.

(Thats what I had to do on my Super neo 29.)

If that's a Nanao monitor it's that godam f***ing automatic brightness level circuit that Nanao built into the monitor.
