5" TFT LCDs
« on: August 17, 2005, 04:07:45 pm »
So, I have some 5" LCD monitors at my disposal.  I'd like to integrate at least one into my cab, but I'm having trouble coming up with a function for it.

Does anyone have multiple monitors in their cab?  How do you make use of them?
How would you guys use an additional (small) monitor in your cab?

It would be useful for watching good porn without interrupting gaming.  Or you could use it so that you don't have to stop posting here while you play.

But who here is qualified to determine what kind of porn is good porn?

No worries mate, no rules just right!

Do these accept standard VGA cables?  If so it should hook up just like any other dual monitor inside windows XP (if that is what you are using).  You would then have to have an application running on just the second monitor to display whatever it is you want to display.

How about a dedicated frontend screen (like playchoice 10)?

Or show the title/marquee/flyer/controls/history/etc for whatever game is currently playing?

How about a dedicated Neo Geo emulator machine. Then you could use the 5" monitor in place of a marquee insert to show which game you're playing. Oh, that would be slick.

Oh, yeah, that's the stuff.  This is what I was looking for.  I really like the Neo Geo idea.  Perhaps I can find a way to incorporate most of this stuff at the same time.
Thanks AlanS17!

But if it was good porn, then you would stop playing to watch it...?

There is no good porn. It is all the work of the devil. If you watch any porn you will burn in hell.

What about a screen integrated into the marquee dedicated to play a loop of old 80's commercials??
Signature tags are dumb.

Really cool ideas in this thread.  I personnaly would put an additional All-in-wonder video card in the pc and run a satelite or cable feed to it, mount the little 5" somewhere such as the marquee area and be able to watch TV and movies while I frag away!!  That would be cool.

What kind of LCD monitors are these?  I am looking for some small LCDs for my MAMEs since it is hard to read the computer on the TV.  A small LCD would help with software maintenance and updates and stuff.   Will the Sony LCD for their PS1 take a VGA input?  Any others that anyone knows of?

Some Ideas:

1) Game Logo

2) Game Instructions (i.e. what buttons do what for what game)

3) Game Description

4) Year, Copyright Info, maker, etc about a game

5) Use it for your menu system or front end
