Communication problem with I-Pac and keyboard
« on: August 16, 2005, 02:29:14 pm »
Hey all. Here's the scoop:

I have a new Athlon64 that I've replaced my old P4 with. For whatever reason, I can't get the Athlon to recognize the keyboard when channeled through the I-Pac in either Serial or USB mode, regardless of the jumper settings on the I-Pac. I've tried the keyboard directly into the PC, so I know the keyboard is working.

For the OS, I'm using Windows XP.

Any ideas? Do I need to post more information?

I'll bite, but probably be less then usefull.

Normal I-PAC?
When you say serial you mean PS/2?

You plug everything in, the keyboard is in the correct spot on the I-PAC, turn on the PC, open up notepad, type on the keyboard, and get nothing?

Does the I-PAC work without the keyboard?
Does it still work with the keyboard plugged in?

Hmmm...upon further investigation, it looks like the PC that was previously attached to this I-Pac took the I-Pac with it when the Motherboard fried...

The PC will boot with a different I-Pac, so at least I've isolated the problem down to the I-Pac, rather than the computer.

Bummer...this I-Pac 4 was almost brand new....

I had this problem but it was a USB keyboard, putting it in the USB port under the actual normal keyboard input worked for me.
