I really, really appreciate your help with the matter.
YES I actually have done much much research and playing around. You are right in that by using the command
MODE COM1:4800,E,7,1
The settings are correctly set for access from DOS
Matter of fact by using the command: TYPE filename.txt >COM1
I am able to send information to the sign (Assuming I use correct headers & footers) and it works marvelously, that is why I could not understand WHY when running ArcadeOS it refused to communicate with sign, I started theorizing it had to be messing with the port settings
And that is when I ran into following qudote inside AOS_MAN.DOC
Note: Any Serial Device must be configured for 8 data-bits, 1 start-bit, 1 stop-bit and no parity. BAUD rate is configured in the arcadeos.cfg file.
The fact that After exiting ArcadeOS I loose the ability to communicate with the sign seems to confirm this statement, after issuing my MODE COM1:4800,E,7,1 command it works correctly again.
I went as far as using the SHELL option from within ArcadeOS and issuing the command from there but seems to have no effect on the operation of the program.
Please echeck out my webpage at:
www.780tech.com/betabriteAfter 3 days of research and hard persistance I got it working beautifully inside of MAMEWAH mostly to ensure it could be done and help another user MCcoy whom has a betabrite and uses mamewah.
I insist however on using ArcadeOS even if I have to learn C (which I'd really really rather not do)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Kindest Regards.
Tony
