Zenith Picture Tube - Help Please-

I just scored a gorgeous neo-geo, but the monitor doesn't work right. 

Its a 25" Zenith. When I push on the black box (for adjusting picture and focus - which is connected to the anode cap and right in front of a magnetic coil) with an insulated screwdriver, the tube sparks a bit in the tip and after warming up, starts to show a messy blue fluctuating picture.

But I only get that far if someone sits there and holds that part there that whole time. I think I need a new magnet coil and picture/focus box - maybe a cap kit too? (thats my dad's advice) I have never operated on a monitor before, please help.

Should I try to fix it myself or should I pay someone since I don't know what I'm doing?

I can't afford to pay much, but I can pay anyone of you guys around the Fort Worth, Texas area if you wanna have a go at it for me.

I can look up the product info of the tube later if anyone needs that.

ZENITH DID NOT MAKE THE MONITOR IN YOUR PICTURE! Zenith did however make the picture tube itself, but they were failing prematurely and Wells-Gardner had so much trouble with Zenith tubes that they have stopped using Zenith as one of their suppliers of picture tubes.

You have what appears to be a Wells-Gardner model 25k7191 series (7193, 7194, etc) which is collectively known as the "k7000 series".

The black high voltage unit (known as the "flyback") is a high failure item and the one in your picture is obviously an original and needs to be replaced. You can buy this item along with the capkit your monitor also needs from either Bob Roberts or Zanen Electronics (phone 806-829-2780, you want capkit # 204).

Much thanks, you always give such thorough answers. I'll prolly pick up the parts and have an arcade shop install em for me (shouldn't cost much) just cuz I already got shocked once being an idiot and now I'm understandably cautious even after discharging it.

I figured zenith only made the picture tube, but I had no clue as to who made the rest, thanks for the info.
