dc to arcade monitor problems
« on: August 12, 2005, 01:21:45 pm »
Ive got a jamma fingerboard that I soldered 20ga wire to for the r/g/b, sinc & ground. i have a 15 pin vga cable (actually its a 14pin I hope that doesnt matter) When I cut the end off of the vga cable to attach to the end of the wires soldered to the fingerboard, Im not sure how to ground the r/g/b wires. I checked with a tester and the shielding on the wire is the ground while the actual color signal is a smaller wire in the center. how can I ground this. Should I connect the r/g/b grounds together to attach to the fingerboard?

Where can I find a 9pin vga cabe? I dont think I have ever seen one before.

Note: Jamma uses combined Sync, and VGA uses seperated sync.  On your hacked VGA cable, you'd have to twist both Hor and Ver sync lines together and then solder to the jamma sync line.  You can use the 15 pin vga cable, just look up the pinout on google and only use the RGBHVG wires.  Also you can use just one of the grounds from any of the RGB lines to connect to jamma ground (don't need to combine them all together).

At least make sure the DC is outputting in 15 Khz and not 31 Khz if you're using an arcade monitor...
