Help! New artwork in progress
« on: August 10, 2005, 08:20:49 am »
Hey guys! Im currently collecting pieces of art for my CP, marquee and side art. The theme for the machine will be Zombies, more specificly art from Xombie flash movies (artwork is awesome in those movies! Look professional and would suit an arcade machine perfectly. See for yourself at http://www.xombified.com) For the control panel, marquee and side art I will need big pictures taken from the Xombie flash movies. I can take screenshots of the movie running but the display window is very small so when I enlarge the screenshots im loosing a lot of quality. I know that vector graphics can be infinitly enlarged but I have no experience whats so ever doing this and im sure there is a simple solution somewhere on how to get flash movies full screen, that would be all I need. I also notice that when I right click on the movie while playing and click zoom in I am not loosing any quality and can get REALLY big pictures with decent quality but the display screen doesnt became larger so im loosing parts of the screen so cant take screenshot (display window doesnt get bigger so I can only scroll to see missing parts).  I cannot find downloadable Xombie movie files so I can only seem to be able to play them in a browser (again wouldnt be a problem If I could only bring everything full screen) Some sites have the display window bigger than others but still too small and doesnt let me resize it or to put everything full screen again... Im repeating myself now :) You get the picture ?

Any help would be very appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!

***while typing this I just think of something... I could zoom in as much as I want and take multiple screenshots and then put them together to form a big picture. Mmmm actually maybe not since I didnt saw any pause button on the browser while movie is playing. Anyway Ill let you guys give me suggestions now! :)

Ok for the people that might be interested here is an answer I received from a guy in the Xombie Forum. Im posting it so If other people want to use content from flash movies they'll be able to :)

Hey, yeah i know exactly what your problem is and im gonna try explain it to ya

Ok, you're right about the vector graphics, as you know Flash is a vector based program so you can resize anything in flash an infinate number of times without losing quality. Now, the way i got those huge wallpapers was:
1) i downloaded the xombie movie directly to my comp as a .swf file.
2) i opened up the xombie.swf (or whatever it was called at the time) and made it full screen just by clicking the 'maximize' button
3) i just took a screen shot and pasted it in photoshop.

You might be thinking "how did you download the movie str8 to your comp?" well that's pretty easy too, i'll try and explain it to you.

Ok, what i did was, i opened up the movie just be clicking the link on the website (xombie can also be found on www.newgrounds.com, thats where i viewed it) the flash opened in a new popup window.
I then clicked onto this new popup window and pressed ctrl+U to get the 'Page source' (not sure what the shortcut on mac's is though)

(The page source is all a bunch of HTML etc etc...)

what i did then was pressed ctrl+F in the page souce to get that wordfinder. i just typed .swf so i can find the file, and it came up with a link (eg http://www.newgrounds.com/blahblahblah.xombie.swf)

then, all u do is copy the link, and paste it into a download program like 'getright', and it downloads you the actual file straight to your computer and lets you rezise the window and all.

If you don't have one of these programs then you should download it, i recommend getright, there's a free version available on the net if u just google it

i know it's a lot to take in, but if you follow those steps slowly im sure you'll work it out within a minute.
If you got any more problems feel free to let me know and i'll try and help out as much as i can

Good luck
-Omar

Thanks to him!

Now I would need to know how if its possible to get a vector image directly taken from a flash movie... It is already vectorized so should be possible. Any idea how or any software to do that ???

Thanks
