Maybe he actually died from starvation due to lack of funds to feed himself.

Oh the media wouldn't like that. Telling the truth? That he died from lack of food and water? Nah. It's much more interesting to make it sound like what he was DOING killed him. (Besides it's the in thing these days to demonize video games).
